With the platform of the ‘White Cube’ removed, we ask ourselves “what is the function of art in this situation? Is this a space before or after sociological importance?” Does it become a gesture of culture elaborating on the Romanticised ideology of art, or does it contribute to our understanding of the world? Is it beneficial to humanity or has it become a superfluous product. This project explores art as an association to ‘culture’, as well as a significant entity in its own right. In a world so seeped in language we cannot be certain if our understanding formed by the signifier or signified. In a way we explore the freedom of display by displaying its freedom.
